A few weeks before Mike's birthday Savannah and I were explaining to Emma Grace that It was almost Daddy's birthday. She was so excited. she told us that we needed balloons, and a cake, and some presents, and sing Happy Birthday. Savannah mentioned that it would be fun to have a surprise party. She explained to her little sister that at a surprise party everyone hides and then popps out and yells SURPRISE!!! Emma Grace thought it was a great idea.
We wondered why she was crawling behind the pillows on the bed, but it all came clear when Mike walked into the room. Emma Grace popped out from behind the pillows and yelled SURPRISE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!
Mike's real birthday was kind of a blur. Poor guy, he was sick as a dog. He ended up going to the doctor and getting his second round of antibiotics and a steroid pack.
But a birthday is a birthday. So, we were ready with balloons, cake (Emma Grace blew out the candles), and presents when he got home.
Happy birthday to my best friend. I love you.
