John Deere Green

On a warm spring day
They rode, Logan Baugh and Gracie
On tractors 2 feet high
And the whole town said the fools should have bought red
But it looked good to Logan

Thought perhaps this trial of patience could pass me by, wrong.

I knew that someday this would happen. It never came with Savannah. Alyssa never attempted the task. I really thought I was good at laying down the law in a way that my kids could understand. “What do we cut?” “PAPER” “What paper do we cut?” “WHAT MOMMY GIVES US.” They all know the rules. We go over them every time the scissors leave the drawer. So, where did I go wrong?
I looked in on my two angelic babies playing in the family room. I thought to myself, “They are so cute. Rarely do they play so nicely together. I’m going to sweep this floor. Mother of the year trophy here I come.” In runs Emma Grace. “Mommy, Lo Lo’s cutting his hair!” Out of my hand flies the broom, out of the room flies me. Sure enough, there sits my “angelic” baby boy cutting his hair at the scalp. But wait, where did all this long beautiful hair come from?!? GRACIE. Oh, sure. While tattling on her brother, she forgot to mention that she too had done a number on her hair. It was all I could do not to freak out. I loaded all four of the kids up in the van and we headed to “pigtails & crew cuts”. It’s a good thing my kids are cute. It’s also a good thing that kids cutting their own hair isn’t unheard of. The lady that fixed Logan’s hair had already “fixed” three other heads that day!

This picture doesn't even do justice to the number she did on her hair. She did whack off the side, but there ore chunks taken randomly from the middle and the other side as well.

It's hard to stay mad at a little guy who looks at ya with thoses eyes.

OH, NO!!!

Still Handsome

Still angelic, sort of.

Welcome to "The Baugh Field"

We decided that since the babies are still babies that it was not time to put the pool in the back yard. I kept having nightmares that convinced me that we REALLY needed to wait a couple of years. I kind of feel bad for Savannah and Alyssa because they are at the perfect age to have a pool in the yard. But, welcome to family life.
So, we decided to finish the yard without the pool. It was time to put in a garden, plant some trees, and sod the field.
The backyard will now be known as “The Baugh Field”.
Logan was in little boy heaven watching the workers in the back. He stayed on the deck for hours mesmerized by the tractors and diggers and tools.
It is a peaceful place to hangout and enjoy being a family.

Blue Man Group

When Mike bought the fox's musical season for the girls and I the only stipulation was that he wanted to take them to see The Blue Man Group. Unfortunately for him, he was sick as a dog that day. So, Alyssa and I went to see the show. I can't remember why Savannah didn't come. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was like an alien visitation/rock concert/art show. It was fun/weird/entertaining. Alyssa's favorite part was when they went over the rules of a good dance party. Shaking your booty was one of the rules. The whole audience was invited to stand up and shake their booty. We danced to a song that named every possible named for your rear end.

Favorites included:

skin smurf

muffin

turkey stuffin

bump hump

hiney

Alyssa was laughing so hard. It really was pretty hilarious.

I had a good time on a date with my Sissy.

5th Grade Graduation

Susan Headley was Savannah’s 5th grade teacher. She was a wonderful woman. She loved Savannah like her own daughter. When Savannah had her orthodontia started Mrs. Headley took special care of her. She offered to let her eat in a different room so that she could take her time and not have to worry about the other kids. Mrs. Headley asked us to make a copy of Savannah’s gym meets so that she could watch them over and over at home. She taught Savannah about patriotism and what it means to be an American. She taught her that to have an extensive vocabulary is a sign of intelligence. Mrs. Headley was a teacher & a friend to my Savannah Mae. Mrs. Headley passed away December 22, 2010. It was such an honor for Savannah & Alyssa to be asked to sing at her memorial service. They sang “For Good” from the musical Wicked. They sang beautifully. I was very proud of them and I know that Susan was, too.

We will always remember Ms. Headley as a favorite and most beloved teacher and friend. We know and have faith that we will get to study at her side again in the next life.

We love you Ms. Headley.
